July 23rd (Monday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

I test hovered the T-Rex at work today during my lunch break. Dangerbird Mike and
I went out to our baseball field and checked out the repaired heli. Just spinning
it up I could see that the tail rotor was way off. A quick fix back at one [...]

July 22nd (Sunday) - RC Flight Journal

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Wow, this weekend turned out to be pretty disasterous! Saturday saw the end to my
“number of flights since last crash” streak on the T-Rex 450SE V2.

Sunday was just as rough but far more depressing as I managed to lawn dart my Slow-Stock
from 3 [...]

So, you go to THAT church?

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

A lot of people know that I go to Cornerstone
Christian Fellowship here in Chandler. You may notice a new billboard on the San
Tan freeway or some ads on the radio and in theaters called “How
Sexy Am I?” with a web address. When you [...]

July 21st (Saturday) - RC Flight Journal

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Flew the T-Rex 1 time at east end of the runway successfully (mainly hovering, pirouettes,
a flip or two and some FFF). That’s when Charlie asked if I was nervous
at all. I told him no and he said “If you’re not a little nervous then
you’re [...]

July 18th (Wednesday) - RC Flight Journal

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Night flying night! Got to the park a lot later than I hoped as I was soldering on
bullet connectors onto one of my new ESKAY 400XT brushless motors from Hobby Lobby.
The idea was to replace the BP09 brushless. After finishing soldering, then realizing
I [...]

T-Rex 450SE V2 Flight Log Stats

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I just compiled something this is both scary and informative at the same time.
It actualy surprised me as I had no idea how I was doing until I went back and pulled
the numbers together!

T-Rex 450SE V2 Flight Log Stats:

Bought: Sunday, May 13th

Days owned: 45 days

Number of flights: 55

Number of crashes: [...]

July 16th (Monday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I headed out to the Bowl after work. Lee and Mike came out as well. I only flew the
T-Rex once as one of the rubber dampener o-rings was blowing out again. Lee told me
to look into replacing the stock dampeners with Trueblood
Engineering red [...]

July 15th (Sunday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I was the Sound Tech volunteer at church today (Cornerstone Christian Fellowship on
Alma School just south of the San Tan 202 freeway) so I didn’t make it out to
the park until after 10:00 a.m.

Only brought out the T-Rex 450 SE V2 and the [...]

July 14th (Saturday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Flew my Slow Stick and T-Rex 450 SE V2 in the morning. I put about 5 flights on the
T-Rex doing FFF (Fast Forward Flight) and some 3D (mainly backflips and side flips).

Around noon, Tony brought out the 1/8th” (3.17mm) e-clips that I needed for
[...]

July 13th (Friday) - RC Flight Journal

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Well, I managed to survive a Friday the 13th AND fly through 4 battery packs on the
T-Rex after work! Even though it was a bit breezy I was able to do some FFF (Fast
Forward Flying) doing banked turns and some stall turns. No flips or inverted [...]

July 11th (Wednesday) - RC Flight Journal

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

Tonight was the official “night fly” at the bowl. What a huge turnout!
It was awesome! Before the sun set too much I flew the T-Rex 450 SE V2 three times
and saved the 4th battery pack just in case I needed it for night flying the Slow-Stick.

[...]

July 10th (Tuesday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Took the T-Rex flying at the bowl over my lunch hour. It was so hot that I only used
up 3 of the 4 batteries! Probably a good thing. On the second flight, I did some very
sloppy flips (back and side). Practiced a lot of forward flight!

[...]

July 9th (Monday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Mainly worked on the Ultrafly Ultimate Biplane! Here’s photos of it in progress!

I stopped by Hobby Hangar (Chandler Blvd and Gilbert) after work to buy a Hyperion
prop adapter that would let me use the spinner that came [...]

July 8th (Sunday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

I decided to fly the Ascent after flying several battery packs through the T-Rex and one flight on the SS. I found lift over the baseball field to the far east end of the park. It was keeping altitude with the motor off, sometimes even flying higher. I was doing some small circles in the [...]

July 7th (Saturday) - RC Flight Journal

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

I didn’t get out to the park very early today as my son Andrew called and asked
me to take my truck to him at Showcase Honda in Phoenix. He broke is rear differential
on his Honda Element and would be without a vehicle for a couple of [...]

July 6th (Friday) - RC Flight Journal

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Went out again this morning (around 8:00 a.m.) with only the T-Rex helicopter. There
were three other guys there. I flew through 4 battery packs, now increasing the flight
time to 5 minutes and 20 seconds. It’s leaving the battery packs at around 11.1v,
which is still in the safe zone and they aren’t as warm as they [...]

July 5th (Thursday) - RC Flight Journal

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Worked on the Ultrafly Ultimate biplane some more. Got the motor mounted (thanks again
to Brian Buxton for the custom made motor mount). Hopefully, it will be ready for
this weekend!

I went down to the park around 5:30 and had it all to myself (way [...]

July 4th (Wednesday) - RC Flight Journal

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Happy 4th of July everyone! I started the day off bright and early, hoping to avoid
some of the heat by going out to the park at 6:30 in the morning! To my surprise,
there were already several other people there with the same idea! I got to [...]

July 3rd (Tuesday) - RC Flight Journal

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Returned from Snowflake yesterday. Took the Slow-Stick and Ascent up with me and got
to fly both. The SS’s landing gear finally snapped (it’s felt weak for
a while now). See additional notes in next paragraph. The Ascent was a joy to fly
as it was [...]
